You probably don't even realize you are doing it right? Thats okay it is not your fault. Blame it on your brain! Now that I've got your attention and you know your brain is taking over, you can choose to take back the power. Tell it that you are sick and tired of it wanting to stay in it's comfortable little box and you are breaking out to your greatness!
First, be willing to be coachable and vulnerable.
Second, start with an intentional statement of what you want instead of what you don't want. For example, if you don't have time for something instead say, “I don’t want to work so hard like Brooke did because I want to spend more time with my son.” Don’t use Brooke as the excuse not to do your business. Instead say, “I want to work my business because I want to spend more time with my son.” This is a be-your-own -boss business.
There are times you have to make short term sacrifices for long term gains. But they have to be conscious decisions that have daily time limits. Get clear on what you want…not what you don’t want. You can choose to have control of your calendar and time to be powerful or you can choose to be powerless.
Finally, here is a tip that works ALL THE TIME. When you find yourself making a decision not to do something that you know is important (or maybe something you fear or you are giving up your power), ask yourself will this serve my goals or hurt my goals?
Make what you want BIGGER than what you DON’T want.
