The good and bad of my leadership

Good leaders start by leading themselves first right? You've heard me talk about that in my past blog. It's not always easy to do, but it is necessary. It takes commitment, planning and consistent action steps. I pride myself on leading myself, but I'll be honest. I really dropped the ball and let other parts of my business suffer. Let me tell you about the Good and Bad of my leadership these past few months.

The GOOD: In May and June I was so immersed in a leadership course that I was taking and I was LOVING it! I watched the videos, I applied and practiced the skills, I showed up for our weekly group coaching call and I never missed one group call. You might say I was a "good student" LOL! and did everything with integrity. I was seeing results of the skills I was developing. WOW!!!! Not only was it money well spent, but it was time well spent. To see my team benefiting was the cherry on top! Now I'm not saying I do/did everything perfect. In fact, I made mistakes but learned from them.

So what's the BAD? I was so focused on what was going well with coaching my team (helping them practice their skills and seeing them get results and achieve their goals) that I didn't put as much focus on "me" and helping other people learn about essential oils and getting started in their own journey. Tonight I had a great conversation with my business coach and she helped me breakdown what was going well, what has been challenging and what was it that I wanted to achieve with what's left in the rest of the month. This is "exactly" what I do with my beautiful team. I left the call feeling so energized and feeling so good about what I want to accomplish this month.

The reason I'm sharing this is because I want to be transparent and let you know that it's not always rainbows and butterflies in business. Not all months are going to be great. Even I have off months. But the one thing I can always count on is the integrity with which I approach my business and my relationships--personal and business. Every business owner needs a coach (no matter how good you might be in your business). Do you have a coach? What do you love about your sessions with your coach? How does it help you?
