My friends and I were walking the town of Lancaster, PA this weekend. It was a beautiful fall day. It was sunny, but windy with a little chill from the wind every now and then.
While I'm more a beachy summer girl, I do love fall days and I look forward to all the fall aromas.
We walked by this coffee house that was serving Spiced Apple Cider Lattes and I was intrigued. Normally, I would have grabbed coffee, but this latte was calling my name. Now I know they usually use syrups to make lattes, but they said it was made with a powder.
I tried it anyways knowing it probably wasn't made with the cleanest and whole ingredients. Guess what????
It was so freakin' good. It was creamy, and hot with notes of apples, cinnamon and spices and was the perfect drink for a cooler day.
When I got home I was inspired and found a recipe that I could make at home and it's good enough that I'm going to share it with you. (I wish I could find the recipe so that I could give the person credit.)
Ingredients:
1 cup of brewed chai tea (unsweetened)
1/3 cup of apple cider (I buy cold-pressed from our local store or I make my own)
1/2 cup of milk of choice (I prefer unsweetened coconut milk)
1/8 tsp allpice
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Heat all ingredients in a pan (while whisking to blend the spices) until it just begins to boil. Pour into your favorite mug and sprinkle a little cinnamon on top. You can also add a splash of heavy cream or half and half to the pot just before taking it off the heat if you'd like a little more creaminess.
And if you'd like to have it frothy, you can froth it (I use a hand frother) or blend it in your Vitamix or blender.
Let me know below if you enjoyed it. I'll edit this blog if I can find the author of this recipe.
